Public Sky Observing of the young Moon, planets Venus, Jupiter, Saturn and Mars, bright stars, double stars, and more by telescope with guidance members of the Rochester Astronomy Club.
Bright red Mars with magnitude -2.46 extincted to -1.84 will be visible above South East horizon. Distance from Earth is 0.406 AU (60.8 million kilometers or 3.4 light minutes). Mars is visible in a telescope as a disk with apparent diameter 23″. In spite of planet-wide dust storm, it’ll be possible to see white polar cap, and if dust storm would calm down, maybe even some surface features. Don’t miss this rare opportunity to see Mars!
Observing will be on parking North of the Soccer fields at Essex Pkwy; near West River Pkwy NW and 41st ST NW
