Basics of Islam/Get to Know your Muslim Neighbor/Coworker

  • Collider Coworking 14 4th Avenue Southwest Rochester, MN, 55902 United States (map)

Why is learning about Islam and who Muslims are so important for today's professionals and employers? Anti-Muslim acts of violence and harassment is on the rise in the United States, fed by the Islamophobia industry. Studies show that the average American's perceptions of Islam are negative. In fact, 6 out of 10 Americans polled say they do not know a Muslim personally. This leads to the conclusion that the overwhelming amount of information about Islam people are exposed to is the media - and that is not a good thing. These misconceptions have potentially negative impacts on our interactions with our clients, our coworkers, our patients, and our neighbors. Please join this interactive and informative session presented by Regina Mustafa to learn about Basics of Islam, the common misconceptions, and have your questions answered!

Regina Mustafa is the founder of the interfaith non-profit CIDI (Community Interfaith Dialogue on Islam) and the Southern MN Outreach Director of the CAIR (Council on American-Islamic Relations).
